John Melvin Croft, 85, died at his farm home west of Dows Saturday. He was born April 17, 1879 in Franklin County, the son of John and Josephine Whitesell Croft. He was married to Lula Long, June 11, 1904, at Mason City. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Max (Anne) Banwell, Dows; a sister, Ruth Greenfield, Rockford, Ill.; six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, three brothers and three sisters.

Funeral services will be Tuesday at 2 p. m. at the Van Hove Funeral Home here. Burial will be in Upper Maynes Grove Cemetery near Hampton. J. Alstott will officiate.
