Alfred Mallaise [Malaise] who was in the employ of Henry Grandgeorge, tenant upon the J. H. Smalley farm in Fremont township, died yesterday afternoon as the result of sunstroke. Mr. Mallaise [Malaise] was working in the harvest field shocking grain when he was stricken. All at once the others working in the field noticed Mr. Mallaise [Malaise] staggering. They suspicioned what was the trouble and immediately got him into the shade at the side of the field and then took him to the farm house in an auto, where he died about all hour after receiving the sunstroke.

Mr. Mallaise [Malaise] was a single man about twenty-eight years of age and has only two relatives in this country—two cousins who live at Woolstock. He was born in France and came to this country four or five years ago. During the past two years he had been in the employ of Mr. Grandgeorge and was an industrious worker and good man. His friends are filled with sorrow over his sudden taking off.

The funeral services were held at the French church east of Woolstock this afternoon at 2 o'clock, with interment in the French cemetery.
