MRS. CLIFFORD WITHERS
Memorial services for Mrs. Shirley Withers, 74, were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 8, 1983 at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Richard Russell officiating. Mrs. Withers died Friday morning, Dec. 31, 1982 at the Crestview Manor. Following her death, her body was donated to science at the University of Iowa Hospitals, Iowa City. Foster's Funeral Home, Webster City, had charge of the arrangements for the services.

Julia Shirley Horton, daughter of Harvey Monroe and Gertrude Edith McVicker Horton, was born Feb. 29, 1908 at Eagle Grove. She attended schools in the Eagle Grove area, being graduated from Eagle Grove high school in 1927. She attended Webster City Junior College and later received a degree from Drake University in Des Moines.

She was married June 2, 1928 at Humboldt by the late Rev. Joseph Share, to Clifford Wayne Withers, and the couple resided in Hamilton and Wright Counties. She taught in the Webster City school system for many years. Since 1947 the family had resided in the Homer community.

She was preceded in death by her husband, June 18, 1980. She moved into Webster City in Nov. 1980. She had resided at Crestview since April, 1982. Mrs. Withers is survived by three sons and three daughters, Clifford W. Withers, Jr. of Randall, Gilbert W. Withers of Denison, Merlyn H. Withers of Loomis, Calif.; Mrs. Carol (Shirley) Schumacher of Pleasant Valley, Mrs. Mike (Kathy) Fryslie of Ackley and Mrs. Dennis (Patricia) Miller of Olathe, Ks.; 17 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; three sisters and two brothers, Mrs. Todd (Eunice) Withers and Mrs. Emily Fisher, both of Webster City, Mrs. Daisy Blanche Grandgeorge of Iowa Falls; Harvey Horton of Osakis, Minn., and Russell Horton of Fort Dodge, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson.

She was a member of the Homer United Methodist Church, the B.P.W. and the Webster City Retired Teachers Association. The family suggests that memorial contributions be designated to the
Homer United Methodist Church.
