Clifford Wayne Withers, Sr., 73, of rural Webster City, died Wednesday afternoon June 18 at the Hamilton County hospital where he had been a patient for two days. Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, June 21, at the Homer United Methodist Church with the Rev. Paul D. Williamson officiating and with burial at 3 p.m. at the Rose Hill cemetery at Eagle Grove. Foster Funeral Home, Webster City, officiated.

Clifford Wayne Withers, son of Frank and Neva Hall Withers, was born July 8, 1906 at Loogootee, Ind. At the age of 9 he came with his parents to the Eagle Grove area where he was reared and educated. He was united in marriage June 2, 1928 to J. Shirley Horton at Humboldt. He was employed in various capacities throughout Hamilton and Wright Counties. For the past 33 years he had resided in the Homer area.

He is survived by his wife, three sons and three daughters, Clifford W. Withers. Jr., Randall; Gilbert W. Withers, Denison; Merlyn H. Withers, Loomis, Calif.; Mrs. Carroll (Shirley) Schumacher, Pleasant Valley, Ia.; Mrs. Mike (Kathy) Fryslie, Ackley, and Mrs. Dennis (Patricia) Miller,, Olathe, Kans.; 17 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; one brother and three sisters: Frank Todd Withers of Webster City, Mrs. Leona Trower, Kansas City, Kan.; and Mrs. Hilda Crandall of Medford, Ore.; and Mrs. Gay Lamfers, Hayward, Calif. He was preceded in death by one grandson; both parents; three brothers and two sisters. He attended the Homer United Methodist Church.
