Death has claimed one of Britt’s beloved adopted citizens in the person of Mrs. Swan Peterson, she having died at her home Sunday morning following a short illness caused by heart disease. She had been in declining health for several years but was only bedfast three days.

Mrs. Peterson leaves to mourn her an aged husband (now past 92 years old), a brother, John H. Johnson, and a sister. Mrs. Ben P. Anderson, both of Britt, eight children, viz Mrs. David Anderson, John Peterson, Mrs. Axel Trulson, of Britt; N. P. Peterson and Mrs. Henry Harvey, of Goldfield; Alex Peterson, of Whitefish, Montana, Mrs. J. C. Johnson, of Hancock, Mass.; Henry Peterson, of Zahl, North Dakota. There are 35 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren.

Mrs. Peterson's maiden name was Nellie Johnson and she was born at Hishult, Sweden, March 27, 1845. She attained an age of 83 years, 3 months and 11 days. She was married to Swan Peterson on Oct. 7, 1864. The family came to America in 1881 and settled at Britt, making this their home ever since.

Mrs. Peterson was a devout Christian of the Swedish Baptist faith. She reared a family of Christian people, all of them devoted to their God and to the church. Her influence was in the home and in the shaping of the lives of her children and her grandchildren. In teaching the lessons laid down by the Holy Nazarene and applying the principles of the Golden Rule. Memories of her life will carry on into the third generation and her deeds will ever be an inspiration.

Funeral services were conducted by the Rev. Ira D. Holverson, at the home at 1:30 and at the Swedish Baptist church at 2 o’clock Tuesday. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery, Britt.
