Norma Jean Lawrence Thompson, 78, of Eagle Grove, died on Friday, April 14, 2006 at the Rotary Ann Nursing Home in Eagle Grove.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2006 at the Foust Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, April 19, 2006, at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove with Pastor Paul Stone officiating. Burial will be in the Rose Hill cemetery in Eagle Grove.

She is survived by her five children, Mick Boyington of Eagle Grove, Rick Boyington of Eagle Grove, Bruce Boyington and his wife, Raylene of Eagle Grove, Lon Humphrey and Rod Balsley of Clarion, and Jane Thompson and Wade Willard of Eagle Grove, nine grandchildren, Shane Boyington, Tom Boyington, Jessica and Josh Boyington, Cory Humphrey, Jaci Gansen, McKayla Balsley, and Whitney and Wade Willard, a sister, Rose Halligan, of Eagle Grove, and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, Thomas A. Boyington on April 3, 1963, and Stanley Thompson on October 10, 1991, a granddaughter, Michelle Boyington, and three brothers.

Norma Jean Lawrence Thompson was born on November 12, 1927 in Lanesboro, Iowa, the daughter of Alma and Edna (Fick) Lawrence. She was raised and educated in the Clarksville, Waverly area and moved to Eagle Grove in 1952. On June 6, 1964 she married Stanley Thompson at the Evangelical Lutheran Church. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove. Norma worked for the Anthony Department Store and many years at the Family Table Restaurant. She was a member of the Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church. She also belonged to a bowling league, loved walking, fishing, and sports, especially her "Cubs". Memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.

The Foust Funeral Home of Eagle Grove is in charge of the arrangements.
