Thory John Johnson
10 August 1883 ---- 23 July 1954

Thory John Johnson, son of August and Anne Johnson, was born at Bemle, Bravig, Norway August 10, 1883. He was baptized at Samuel Lutheran church and later confirmed at the same church. In 1901 he came to America with his parents and settled near Earlville, Ill. In 1914 the Johnson family moved to a farm near Goodell, Iowa. In 1929 they moved to Eagle Grove, where they lived until 1937 when he moved with his parents and sister, Hilda, to a farm south of Eagle Grove. In 1946 Mr. Johnson and his sister, Hilda, moved back to Eagle Grove where he resided until his death.

He died suddenly Friday July 23, 1954 as a result of an accident while assisting on a farm near Eagle Grove.

Mr. Johnson was a hardworking man all his life. He was a friendly man and always took a friendly attitude to everyone.

He was preceded in death by his parents, one infant sister, and two brothers. He is survived by two sisters, Hilda of Eagle Grove, and Mrs. Robert Hoadly of Kanawha, one niece, Mrs. Warren Willert of Eagle Grove, two nephews, Howard Hoadly of Eagle Grove and Robert Hoadly, Jr. of Kanawha, and other relatives.

Funeral services were held at Kastler Funeral Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday, July 26, 1954 and from Samuel Evangelical Lutheran church at 2:00 p.m., Pastor B. F. Molstre officiated. Miss Ann Falk and Mrs. Ole Mandsager sang at the services at the church. Casket bearers were Lewis Solheim, Norman Arne, Laurits Egsdal, Palmer Moss, Orville Moss, and John Halverson. Interment was made at Rose Hill cemetery.
