Funeral services for Berenice Blake will be held in the Kastler Funeral Home this Thursday afternoon at 2 p.m., Rev. Dale D. Brown will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in Rose Hill cemetery.

Miss Blake died Monday, June 2 about 3 p.m. in the Cottage hospital in Santa Barbara, California. She had been in poor health for the past 3 years. About ten days ago she was taken seriously ill, and her brother Bruce was called to Santa Barbara.

She was too sick to be able to return to Eagle Grove, but her condition was not considered critical, and Bruce returned to his home here. Death came suddenly Monday but was not entirely unexpected.

Berenice Lillian Blake was born in Spencer, South Dakota on April 10, 1893. She moved to Eagle Grove with her parents as a small girl in 1899.

She attended Eagle Grove public schools graduating from Eagle Grove high school. She continued her education at Cornell college in Mount Vernon, received her B. S. degree from Iowa State college and took graduate work in Columbia University, N. Y.

She taught school in DeSmet, South Dakota, Vail, Iowa, Missoula, Montana and for many years in Sioux City, Iowa. She also served several sessions as a substitute teacher in the Eagle Grove schools.

Her health has been such the past three years that she was unable to continue her teaching work. About two and a half years ago she moved to California for her health, and she has resided there in Santa Barbara since.

She is survived by her brother Bruce of Eagle Grove and her mother who lives in Normal, Ill. She was preceded in death by her parents and two brothers.

Miss Blake was a member of the First Congregational church. Eagle Grove, the Eastern Star, the National Association of University Women and the Woman's Club of Sioux City, Iowa.
