Byron Burt Meyer
12 August 1904 ---- 10 January 1975

Funeral services for Byron B. Meyer, 70 of Dows, were held Monday, January 13, 1975 from the Presbyterian Church. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery. Masonic rites were conducted Sunday evening at the Willim Funeral Home by the Carnelian Lodge #425 of Dows.

He was born on August 12, 1904 at Northfield, Minnesota and was the son of George and Etta Williams Meyer. He died on Friday afternoon at his home in Dows.

At the age of four he moved with his family to Dows where he graduated from high school in 1921. He was graduated from Iowa State University in Ames and worked at Paul H. Davis Co. in Chicago until returning to Dows in 1929. After the death of his father, he continued to operate Meyer and Meyer Co., livestock buyers, later changing the name to Byron Meyer Co., until his retirement in July of 1972.

On June 21, 1930 he was married to Josephine Foster at Ames and she survives. He is also survived by a daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Barbara) Amend of Des Moines; a son, Richard of Fort Wayne, Indiana; six grandsons and one sister, Florence Meyer of Des Moines. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Mr. Meyer was a member of the Presbyterian Church, Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity, Carnelian Lodge #425, A. F. & A. M., B. P. O. E. at Iowa Falls and Dows Golf Course. He was a past president of the Dows Commercial Club.
