Elmer E. Osborne, 81, died at his home Wednesday, March 13, 1996 of an apparent heart attack.

Funeral services were held Saturday (March 16, 1996) from the First Lutheran Church, Dows. Burial was in Fairview Cemetery, Dows. Military rites were conducted by Watson-Beach Post #523 of the Dows American Legion.

Elmer E. Osborne was born the son of William and Catherine Newcomer Osborne on February 27, 1915 in Morgan Township. He received his education in Dows. After high school he worked as a veterinarian's assistant for Doctor Oleson and also as a carpenter in the Dows area. During World War II he served in the U.S. Navy as a Carpenter's Mate, 2nd Class until he was honorably discharged on November 6, 1945.

After his military obligation he returned to Dows and on September 21, 1946 was united in marriage to Alice Hanson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. They moved to their present home in Dows in 1948 and until his retirement in 1975, he was a self-employed carpenter and engaged in farming east of Dows.

He is survived by his wife, Alice of Dows; one son, Allen and his wife Colleen of Galt; daughter, Kathryn and husband William Auburn of Banning, California; four grandchildren and sister June Bates of Dows. Preceding him in death were his parents; three brothers and two sisters.

Elmer was a member of First Lutheran Church in Dows and the Watson-Beach Post #523 of the Dows American Legion.
