Amelia Percy Wheeler was born at Danville, Vermont on Nov. 4, 1854 and died at Eagle Grove, Iowa on April 27, 1927. She was the daughter of Nicholas and Percy Mahan. When she was about 15 years of age the family moved to Lebanon, New Hampshire, and remained there for seven years. There she completed her education and became a teacher in the public schools. In 1877 she moved with the family to Mason City, Iowa and in March of that year was united in marriage to Hibbard Wheeler. They lived for some years at Fort Dodge. About 35 years ago they came to Eagle Grove, where Mr. Wheeler conducted a department store.
