1 February 1952 --- 9 August 1978Moose, Wyoming - A Traer man, Bruce Dow, 25, died Wednesday night when he fell 1,000 feet in the Grand Teton Mountains in northwestern Wyoming. His death was immediate according to a National Park Service dispatcher.
Dow was climbing with his wife, a son and his father-in-law in the vicinity of Mt. Owen near Moose, Wyoming when he fell and plunged to his death. His party had earlier had climbed to the peak of the mountain and were making their descent. The fall was reported at 7 pm Wednesday to park emergency officials.
The radio dispatcher said Dow was a competent climber, having been able to scale the rugged mountain. A helicopter recovered his body from the couloir and took it to St. John's Hospital in Jackson.
