Page 14, Columns 6 & 7Bernard Arthur Streitilmier was born April 11, 1920 at Eagle Grove, the son of Arthur and Marie Orr Strietilmier.
He was educated in the Eagle Grove schools.
He was united in marriage to Hazel Shaw of Eagle Grove on January 31, 1941, at Jewell, Iowa. The couple made their home in Eagle Grove at that time, and have lived here nearly all the time since.
He entered the Army in December, 1942, and served in Europe and the Philippines before returning in January, 1946.
He was employed by the Chicago North Western Railway for 28 years and was an engineer at the time of his death.
Mr. Streitilmier died at his home in Eagle Grove on Thursday evening at the age of 55 years, 10 months and 1 day.
He is survived by his wife, two sons: Glen and Ronald, Eagle Grove; one daughter, Darlene Streitilmier, Clear Lake; three sisters: Mrs. Juanita Ralston, Eagle Grove; Mrs. Gordon Jorgensen, Fort Dodge and Mrs. Burton Thompson, Radcliffe; and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one son. Bernard was a member of the United Methodist Church, the American Legion and the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers.
Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church, Eagle Grove, Saturday, February 14, 2 p.m. and Rev. Donald Glazier officiated. Burial was in Rose Hill Cemetery, Eagle Grove.
