Frances Marie Mesecher Hess
18 March 1906 ---- 1 April 1987

Dows - Funeral services for Frances Marie Hess, 81, were held at the Abundant Life Chapel in Dows on April 4, at 11 a.m. Rev. Paul Mills officiated and burial was in the Fairview Cemetery. Mrs. Hess died April 1, 1987 at Franklin General Hospital in Hampton.

She was born at Marcus, Iowa on March 18, 1906 to William and Addie Imlay Mesecher. She received her education at Marcus and on January 21, 1921 she was married to Virgil Hess in Webster City. The couple farmed until retiring in 1965 and then moved to Dows.

Survivors include a daughter, Margaret Gardalen of Des Moines; three sons: Robert of Dows, Virgil of Des Moines and Richard of Cape Coral, Florida; 19 grandchildren and 28 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Virgil on January 13, 1965; three brothers; two sisters; a son, James; one grandson and a great-granddaughter.

Elledge Funeral Home of Dows was in charge of arrangements.
