CLARION. July 25. —The body of Mrs. James Shirk, Goldfield. who died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Hattie Coffee in Des Moines this morning, will be brot here. It is expected funeral services will be held later in Goldfield. Mrs. Shirk is survived by two daughters, Mrs. Coffey and Mrs. Eldred Shupe of Clarion.

Mrs. J. M. Shirk a pioneer of Goldfield and Wright county passed way at the home of her daughter Mrs. J. N. Coffey, 5215 Center Street, Des Moines, Saturday morning following an illness of three years.

She Is survived by her husband, one son, Paul of Grundy Center, three daughters, Mrs. Harry Hasbrouck and Mrs. Eldred Shupe of Goldfield, Mrs. J. N. Coffey of Des Moines, eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

The deceased was an active member of the Christian church and also the W. C. T. U. as long as health permitted.

Funeral services were held at the Christian church on Monday afternoon at 2:30 with Rev. Hudson in charge.

Hattie E. Lewis, the daughter of Albert and Mary Lewis, was born near Indianapolis in Mahaska county, Iowa, November 19, 1866, where she spent the early years of her life. She passed away after being bedfast six months, at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. N. Coffey in Des Moines July 25, 1931 being 64 years, 8 months and 6 days old. She united with the Church of Christ at the age of 17 of which church she remained a true and faithful member until her death.

She was united in marriage to Jesse M. Shirk October 4, 1894 at Hartley, Iowa. In March, 1896 she and her husband moved to Wright county where they lived since that time. To this union three children were born, one son and two daughters. She was a devoted wife and mother, a kind and generous friend always thinking of the many things she could do to help others. She was loved and respected by all who knew her and will be greatly missed by friends and relatives far and near. During her illness of the past three years, she was always patient and hopeful, never believing her case to be serious.

She leaves to mourn her loss devoted husband; one son, Paul of Grundy Center; two daughters, Mrs. J. N. Coffey of Des Moines, and Mrs. E. C. Shupe of Goldfield and Mrs. Harry Hasbrouck of Goldfield; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild; two sisters, her twin sister, Mrs. R. H. Lester of Goldfield, and Mrs. Alice Bell of Council Bluffs; three brothers, Edward of Little Rock, Ark.; Sherman of What Cheer, and Albert of Traverse City, Mich., and many other relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held at the Goldfield Church of Christ Monday afternoon in charge of the local pastor, Rev. L. A. Hudson.
