Tom Benson, 64, of Grandview Health Care Center in Dayton, and formerly Burnside, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, January 2, 2021, at Unity Point ~ Trinity Regional Medical Center in Fort Dodge.

A come & go celebration of life service will be held at a later date. Carson ~ Stapp Funeral Home in Dayton is assisting Tom’s family.

Thomas Allen Benson was born on June 22, 1956, in Belmond, Iowa, the son of Robert and Mary (Thompson) Benson. He graduated with the Stratford High School class of 1975.

Tom served his Country in the United States Army active duty from 1975 to 1987. He was married while serving in Korea, and later divorced. Tom served in the Army Reserves from 1987 until 1992.

Following his honorable discharge from the Army, Tom lived in Burnside and worked at Beam Industries in Webster City. When he was able, Tom attended Immanuel Lutheran Church in Burnside.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert “Benny” and Mary Benson, and his brother-in-law, Russ Frazier. Survivors include his son, Paul Benson; two brothers, Bob (Margie) Benson and Clark (Sheila) Benson; three sisters, Sharon Benson, Dorris (Jim) Murray, and Kathy Frazier; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be left to the discretion of the family.
