Charles Washington “C.W” Drill (1857-1937)

C. W. Drill died at the home of his son, Irvin, at Wolsey, So. Dak., Sunday, December 26th. The remains were brought to Eagle Grove Tuesday and funeral services were held at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home Wednesday afternoon with the Mason in charge at the formal service and at the grave in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Charles Washington Drill was born October 31, 1857 at Boonsboro, Maryland, and passed away at the home of his son in Wolsey, So. Dak., on December 26, 1937, at the age of 80 years, 1 month and 25 days.

Mr. Drill came to Iowa in 1881 at the age of 24 years and to Eagle Grove two years later. He started working for the C. & N. W. railroad in 1884 and was in their employment for 49 years, being a conductor on the road for 45 years.

He was united in marriage in 1881 to Miss Ettie Stauffer [Stouffer]. One son, Irvin G. Drill, was born to this union. Mrs. Drill passed away on January 13, 1934 and since that time Mr. Drill has spent his time in Eagle Grove, and at the home of his son in Wolsey.

Mr. Drill was a member of the Christian church and also of the Masonic order and O. R. C. of Eagle Grove.

He leaves to mourn his passing, one son, Irvin, distant relatives, and many friends who remember him as a kindly neighbor.

Funeral services were conducted by the Masons at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home at 2:00 p. m., Wednesday, Dec. 29. Interment in Rose Hill cemetery.
