Benton Rites Held Monday
William W. Benton, 79, died unexpectedly Sunday morning about three-thirty at the home of his son
Earle Benton. Mr Benton had been a resident of Eagle Grove for the past twelve years moving here from Rowan. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral home in charge of the Rev. F. D. Worden. Music was furnished by Mrs. O. H. Olson and Mrs. F. D. Worden, and pallbearers were six grandsons, William Benton, Earl Benton, Evan Benton, Delmar Benton, Maurice Crone and Harold Manning. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery and Masonic services were conducted at the grave.

Mr. Benton leaves five sons, Frank and Earle of Eagle Grove, Thomas of Fenton, Ill., Leon of Holmes, and James of Rowan also three brothers, fifteen grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Out of state relatives who attended the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. T. H. Benton of Fenton, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Morris Crone of Bloomington, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. J. L. Benton of Heyworth, Ill., Leon Benton of Bloomington, Ill., Mr. and Mrs. Joe Benton of Warrenton, Mo., and Mrs. George Dudleston of Springfield, Ill.

OBITUARY
William Walter Benton, son of the late Jesse and Elizabeth Ann Stivers Benton, was born at Waco, Kentucky, Madison County, October 17, 1868 and passed away in the home of his son Earle in Eagle Grove, Iowa at 3 a.m. Sunday, July 6, 1947. He was united in marriage to Maranda Tuder, February 26, 1890 at Waco, Ky. His wife and son Lawrence preceded him in death. He leaves to mourn his passing five sons, three brothers, fifteen grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. He became a member of the Baptist church when a young man and was also a member of the Masonic Fraternity of Heyworth, Ill.
