Pershing Magnus Gunderson
3 January 1919 --- 5 October 1967

Pershing Magnus Gunderson was born January 3, 1919 at Marshalltown, Iowa to Gustave and Jennie Johnson Gunderson. He was baptized on March 4, 1919 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church by Rev. T. J. Severtson and was confirmed on May 14, 1933 by Rev. Severtson. He died at his home in Eagle Grove on Thursday, October 5, after reaching the age of 48 years, 9 months, and 2 days.

Pershing received his schooling in the Eagle Grove schools and began working for the Chicago Great Western Railroad in 1935 while still in school. He worked at Hampton, Council Bluffs and Coulter, returning to Eagle Grove in 1955. On June 28, 1942 he married June Kauffman at Princeton, Missouri.

Preceding him in death were his parents and a brother, Omer. Those who mourn his departure are his wife, June, a son, Roger, serving in the Army stationed at Fort Knox, Kentucky; a brother, Gordon of Anniston, Alabama,; one sister, Maxine of Des Moines.

Funeral services were held Saturday October 7 at 2:00 at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran Church, Rev. H. W. Schiller in charge. Interment at Rose Hill Cemetery.
