Jennie Josephine Johnson Gunderson
10 January 1886 ---- 1 August 1950

Mrs. Jennie Josephine Johnson Gunderson, born January 10, 1886 near Eagle Grove, Iowa to her parents John and Gertrude Johnson, died at her home, 421 E. 3rd St. N., Tuesday August 1. While ill for several years, her death came quite suddenly. Her husband, Gustav S. Gunderson, to whom she was married June 4, 1913, was with her to the end.

She attended local schools. She was baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.

Surviving her are four children, Omer of Mason City, Gordon of Nashville, Tenn., Pershing of Coulter, and Maxine of the University of Minnesota; four grandchildren, two sisters, Mrs. Carrie Hill and Mrs. Marie Amdahl of Eagle Grove, and one brother Joe Johnson of Thor. Her parents and four brothers John, Peter, Burt and Ole preceded her in death. Mrs. Gunderson faithfully served the local church in many capacities. She was president of the Ladies Aid for two terms. She sang in the choir and taught in the Sunday school.

Services were held in the church Friday, August 4, with messages by Pastors K. R. Torvik and T. J. Severtson.

Bearers were O. M. Hoiekvam, Wm. Midland, Jacob Gord, O. G. Uhr, P. B. Hovland, Olin Engh, with interment at Rose Hill cemetery. Besides many floral tributes, almost $100 was given to the local church building fund and an equal amount was contributed to missions in memory of Mrs. Gunderson.
