June 11, 1919 ---- October 12, 2020

Lydia Andersen, daughter of Theodore and Anna (Kyhnn) Vorm was born in rural Audubon county on June 11, 1919, and died at the Crowell Memorial Home in Blair, Nebraska, on October 12, 2020 at the age of 101 years, 4 months and 1 day. Lydia was baptized and confirmed into the Lutheran faith, and attended Audubon country schools. After school, she went to work for various families as a live-in housekeeper. She met Albert Andersen through friends, and their first date was a barn dance. They were married on February 25, 1939, at the church parsonage in Clarion, Iowa. They were blessed with two children: Ronald and Carol. They farmed in Hamlin and Sharon Townships until they purchased their farm southeast of Elk Horn, Iowa. Lydia worked very hard helping Albert around the farm doing whatever was needed. During this time, Lydia also worked at the Salem Lutheran Home in Elk Horn for several years. They continued farming until they retired.

Albert died on March 3, 1999, and Lydia continued living on the farm until 2011 when she moved to Blair, Nebraska.

Preceding Lydia in death were her husband, Albert Andersen; her parents; her siblings, Leonard and wife Vera Vorm, Leslie and wife Lorene Vorm, and Leanna and husband Delbert Killen; her mother-in-law and father-in-law, Anders H. and wife Kristine Andersen; her brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Egidia and husband Emmert Andersen and Franklin and wife Margaret Andersen. Survivors include her children, Ronald and wife Charlotte Andersen of Washington, Iowa, and Carol and husband Keith Hartvigsen of Blair, Nebraska; her grandchildren: Kristin Blessman of Polk City, Iowa; Kent Andersen of Lone Tree, Iowa; Troy and wife Tatum Hartvigsen of Blair; and Nicole and husband Daryn Hartvigsen (Curry) of Las Vegas; her great-grandchildren: Brandon and wife Rachel Blessman of Chicago; Devon and husband Nathan Davidson of Aurora, Illinois; Cheyenne and husband Dylan Keith of Clark, Missouri; Lydia Hartvigsen, Abigail Hartvigsen, and Isabelle Hartvigsen, all of Blair; and Morrigan Curry, Fionn Curry, and Freyja Curry, all of Las Vegas; and her great-great-grandchildren: Addison Rudy, and Oliver Blessman, all of Chicago; Reagan and Georgia Keith, both of Clark; and Wesley Davidson of Aurora; as well as nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2020, at 3:00 p.m. at Bethany Lutheran Cemetery in northeast of Kimballton, Iowa. The family will greet friends Saturday afternoon from 1:00 until the time of the service at Bethany Lutheran Church northeast of Kimballton. Interment will be in the Bethany Lutheran Cemetery. Lydia's great-grandson Brandon Blessman will be officiating the graveside service. Casket bearers will be Nicole Hartvigsen (Curry), Troy Hartvigsen, Kent Andersen, Kristin Blessman, Lydia Hartvigsen, Kyle Andersen, and Abby Hartvigsen. The family request memorials designated to Bethany Lutheran Church (RR1, Kimballton, IA 51543). The Kessler Funeral Home in Audubon is in charge of her arrangements.
