Thursday, May 5, 1994Ray H. Johnson, 66, of 156 Monroe St., died Wednesday, May 4, at Covenant Medical Center hospice unit of cancer.
He was born July 25, 1927, in Goldfield, son of Henry and Estella Keister Johnson. He married Lois "Jean" Manross on May 24, 1947, in Waterloo.
Mr. Johnson was employed by the Illinois Central Railroad and later the Chicago Central Railroad for 41 years, retiring in 1987. He was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II.
Survived by: his wife; two sons, Douglas G. and Terry G., both of Waterloo; a daughter, Betty Rae Burrill of Ontario, Calif.; four grandchildren; three brothers, Leonard of Waterloo, Robert of Round Lake, Ill., and Merle of Apple Valley, Calif.; and two sisters, Faye Johnson of San Diego and Myrtle Roeding of Waterloo.
Preceded in death by: three brothers, Leo, Ted and Jerry; a sister, Donna Murray.
Services: 1 p.m. Friday at Parrott & Wood Funeral Home, with burial in Garden of Memories Cemetery. Graveside military rites will be conducted by Becker-Chapman American Legion Post 138 and Veterans of Foreign Wars Waterloo Post 1623. Friends may call from 5 to 9 p.m. today and 9 a.m. until services Friday at the funeral home. Memorials: directed to the family.
