Milton Arlo Friedow, 65, son of Floyd and Edna (Koch) Friedow, passed away Monday, June 1, 1992 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Mason City, Iowa.

Milton was born May 27, 1927 on the home farm in Erin Township. He was baptized and confirmed in the Christian faith in the Methodist Church. He received his education in a rural school, graduated from Kanawha High School and attended Upper Iowa University.

On March 24, 1951, he was united in marriage with Beryl J. Drury in Kanawha, while serving in the U.S. Army Anti-Aircraft Artillery. The couple lived in El Paso and San Francisco until his discharge in October, 1952. They returned to the home farm where he was engaged in farming, and raising and showing purebred Poland China hogs with his father and brothers. He was well known as an excellent stockman. He was a District Officer in F.F.A.; a member of the Severson American Legion; 25 years as a 4-H leader; officer in the North Iowa Breeders Co-op and President of Iowa Purebred Swine Council. He was one of the first recipients of the Master Seed Stock Producers Award and was Director and President of the Poland China Record Association.

He was an active member in the Kanawha United Methodist Church, serving as lay leader, Sunday School teacher, and on many church boards. His life was centered around his family, his church, his fine livestock and farming. Throughout his life, he appreciated the beauty of the world around him.

Survivors include his wife, Beryl of Kanawha; four children: Jodine Friedow of New York; Rory and Linda Friedow and grandsons, Caelen and Braden of West Bend; Scott Friedow and granddaughter, Jennifer of Kanawha; Gwen Friedow of Dallas; one brother, Verlyn and Blanche of Kanawha; one sister, Ardith and Robert Kelly of Charles City; his step-mother, Annette Friedow of Britt; a sister-in-law, Audrey Friedow of Madison, South Dakota. He was preceded in death by his parents, infant daughter, Jayana and one brother, Doyce.
