March 14, 1918 ---- November 17, 1993

Bennie B. Lamfers, 75, passed away Wednesday, November 17, 1993, at the Kanawha Community Nursing Home in Kanawha, Iowa. Bennie, the son of Ben and Anna (Hiller) Lamfers, was born March 14, 1918 in Kanawha, Iowa. He received his education in the country schools near Kanawha. He farmed in the Kanawha area until March 11, 1941 when he entered the U.S. Army. He served in various Battles and Campaigns including: Tunisia, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Rhineland and Central Europe. Following his Honorable Discharge on October 15, 1945, he returned to the farm at Kanawha. In 1980 he retired to Belmond and in 1983 he suffered a stroke and became a resident of the Kanawha Community Nursing Home. He was a member of the Christian Reformed Church in Kanawha, and the Kanawha American Legion. Survivors include his two brothers: Marion Lamfers of Belmond, Iowa and Oafae Lamfers of Clarion, Iowa; six sisters: Alice Lamfers of Clarion, Iowa, Sadie Dirks of Conrad, Iowa, Jennie Palmer of Florida, Gertie Paulson of Garner, Iowa, Frieda Mehus of Austin, Minnesota, and Carrie Bueseman of Mason City, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers, and two sisters.
