Debra “Debbie” Lynn (Wenzel) McCloud, 64, Perry, died Sept. 16, 2020 at MercyOne Hospital in Des Moines as a result of complications of polymyositis. A celebration of life will take place Sept. 29 from 1-7 p.m. at Ronald Good Shelter in the Don Williams Recreation Center near Ogden. A short service will take place at 1:30 p.m. This will be a casual “come and go” time to share memories and honor Debbie.

  Debra Lynn was born May 30, 1956 in Belmond to George and Mildred (Smit) Wenzel. She grew up on a farm near Belmond and graduated from Belmond High School in 1974. Debbie received a bachelors degree in psychology at Central College in Pella in 1978. Her professional career extended 39 years as a vocational instructor at Woodward Resource Center, devoted to autism education.

  Debra married Charles “Chuck” McCloud on June 7, 1980. They built their lifelong home in Perry and were soon blessed with twin daughters Jamee Lynn and Jessica Nicole. Debbie was a devout family woman who cherished every moment with her children and grandchildren. She loved to spend her free time camping, gardening and volunteering at her church.

  Debra was preceded in death by her father; and mother-and father-in-law William and Bernice McCloud.  Debra is survived by the love of her life, Chuck McCloud; daughters Jamee (Kevin) Stover of Ankeny and Jessica (Jason) Ingwersen of Pleasant Hill; mother Mildred Wenzel; sisters Barbara (Dennis) Janssen, Peggy (Jim) Hutchison, Nancy (Mark) Barkema, Lynette (Tom) Tschumper and Julie (Brad) Berneman; brothers-and-sisters-in-law Darrell (Shirley) McCloud, Joyce McCloud, Sandy (Tom) Peters and William “Bubba” McCloud; and grandchildren Derek, Logan, Charlie and Wyatt Stover, and Leah and Coen Ingwersen.
