Russel L. Hansen, 82, passed away Thursday, September 16, 1993, at the North Iowa Mercy Health Center, East Campus in Mason City, Iowa.

Russel, the son of Chris and Emma (Shewmaker) Hansen, was born November 5, 1910 near Webster City, Iowa. He received his education in the Twin Lakes Township #4 country schools.

He was united in marriage with Irma Schoenwetter of September 22, 1937 near Klemme, Iowa. The couple made their home on a farm near Kanawha. Due to ill heath his farming duties were limited, but his interest in farming never stopped. He enjoyed many hours in his beloved shop crafting wood. His entire life was devoted to his family.

Survivors include his wife, Irma Hansen of Kanawha, Iowa; four children: Daryl and his wife, Vivien Hansen and their children, Jill and Leah of Humboldt, Iowa, Gloria and her husband, Kay Burk and their children, Lisa Woiwood, Steven, Dana Russel, Rita and her husband, Terry Greiman and their children, Christopher of Bloomfield, New Mexico, Roger and his wife, Joann Hansen and their children, Todd, Brian, and Angela of Kanawha, Iowa; his great-grandchildren: Adam, Aaron, and Annelise Woiwood, Brianna, Maxwell, and Kyren Hansen; a sister, Dorothy Hansen and her husband, Lewis of Rogers, Arkansas; a sister-in-law: Doris Hansen of Kanawha, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a son and daughter (premature twins), Eugene Russel and Joanne Irma Hansen, a grandson, Brenden Greiman, a brother Robert Hansen, three sisters, Louise Hansen, Hester Carlson and Frances Eliason.
