Rites Friday For Mrs. Sophie Nervig

Mrs. Sophie Nervig, 73, 208 South Commercial Ave., died Monday afternoon in Lutheran hospital, Fort Dodge.

She became ill Saturday and was taken to the hospital by ambulance early that afternoon.

Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Evangelical Lutheran church in charge of pastor Kenneth R. Torvik. Interment will be in Trinity Lutheran cemetery near Hardy.

Mrs. Nervig is survived by three daughters and one son, Mrs. Omen Nervig of Eagle Grove, Mrs. Ethel Ramsey of Nampa, Idaho, Mrs. Richard Yocum, Caldwell, Idaho, and Orville Nervig of Hardy.

She is also survived by one sister Miss Marcia Smith of Fort Dodge, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Obituary

Mrs. Sophie Smith Nervig, born July 10, 1885, to James Albert Smith and Caroline, nee Nielsen, died after a brief-illness, at Lutheran hospital Fort Dodge, Monday, April 13. Funeral services will be held at Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church, Kenneth R. Torvik, pastor, Friday, April 17, with interment at Trinity Lutheran cemetery, south of Hardy. She was born northwest of Eagle Grove and taught for a time at a school south of Hardy.

On March 29, 1905 she married Omen Nervig of Hardy and farmed near Hardy until her husband died in 1949. In 1950 she moved to Eagle Grove. She was a member of Eagle Grove Evangelical Lutheran church.

Beside her husband, two brothers Warren and Erman Smith, and one sister Julia, Mrs. Lewis Warner, preceded her in death. Surviving her are one sister Marcia Smith of Ft. Dodge; one son Orville of Hardy, and three daughters Irma, Mrs. Omen Nervig of Eagle Grove. Mrs. Ethel Ramsey of Nampa, Idaho, and Mildred, Mrs. Richard Yocum of Caldwell, Idaho; also, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
