August 9, 1826 --- February 13, 1917

Sarah Jane Wallace was born in Ticonderoga, Essex Co. New York, Aug. 9th, 1826. Died at Goldfield, Iowa, February 13, 1917, age 90 years, 6 mo. 4 days. She was the youngest of family of ten children of Nathaniel and Mary Wallace.

She came to Detroit, Michigan in 1853 where she made her home the greater part of her life. She was in business in the city of Chicago in 1871, at the time of the great fire and it was with great difficulty that she escaped with her life. Later she made her home in Detroit with her married sister Mrs. Baxter until her sister and brother-in-law had passed away, at which time she came to Goldfield, Iowa and made her home with be brother, Joseph Wallace.

Early in her life she gave her life to God and united with the Baptist church. Later she united with the Congregational church in Detroit, of which she was a member at the time of her death. She leaves large number of friends and relatives to mourn her departure.

The funeral was held at the Methodist church Thursday afternoon at 2:30, Rev. DeWitt conducting the services. Internment was made in Glenwood cemetery.

T. B. Wallace of Wellsburg, Harold Wallace of Belmond, C. W. Wallace of Clear Lake and W. E. Wallace of Minneapolis were all here attending the funeral of Miss Sarah Jane Wallace. They all returned to their homes soon after the funeral except C. W. of Clear Lake who left for home Tuesday accompanied by his sister Miss Lottie Wallace who goes there for a visit.
