Ragnille (Tjorbjornsdatter) Chelsvig
June 12, 1832 --- May 11, 1912

We herewith inform relatives and friends in this land and in Norway that our dear mother, Ragnille Chelsvig, has moved from her temporal existence to her Sabbath rest, at home with her Savior. She died quietly, calmly on May 11, 1912 at the age of 80 years. She was buried at Norway Cemetery, Wright County, Iowa. There were many relatives, neighbors, and friends present to show their respect and honor. Pastor T. C. Holm conducted services both at the home and church and also continued on the funeral procession to her burial place at the side of her husband who died on November 13, 1901.

There her dust rests until the Resurrection Morning. Ragnille had not been so very well for a long time, but her health began to fail the past four years; however, she was up and active up until the last three weeks when she was confined to her bed.

The departed was born to parents Tjorbjorn and Gurina Tjorbjornson at Bjellebo, Norway in 1832. She came to America with her husband and children in 1881, to Roland County, Iowa. In 1894 they moved to Wright County where she lived until her death. She was one of those for whom death did not come unwanted for. She was converted and committed to her Lord at the age of 25 years, and she had lived in that grace and faith in Jesus for her salvation until her death. After her husband died she made her home with her son, Bert Johnson.

Nine children were born to Ragnille and Johan, two of whom died in infancy. All seven living children were present at the funeral. These are: Daughters: Dora Shurson, Gurina Olson, Anna Wicks, Johannah Hill, Ella Haugland and sons Bert Johnson, and Nels Johnson, who mourn the death of a caring and loving mother.

We wish to thank Pastor Holm for the many times he visited mother during her illness and for trustworthy word and comfort which he spoke at her burial services. And we thank Hans Asbe and Martin Johnson and wife for there great kindness and St. Johns Ladies' Aid for the beautiful flowers for her burial.

From her children translated from Norwegian.
