GOLDFIELD
Mr. T. B. Wallace, who has been sick here for some time at the home of his son, W. J. Wallace, entered into rest August 9, 1922. He was born in Warren county, New York, in 1853, being 70 years and one month old. He married Miss M. J. Dean of Grundy Center in 1876.
They had three sons, Earl, William and Harold, all surviving him. Three grandchildren and his second wife, who was Mrs. Mattie Pitman of Belmond, and other relatives also survive.
He united in 1882 with the M. E. church and remained an active worker in same. He was also an active member of the A. F. & A. M., being a district lecturer and high officer at the time of his death. He was also a member of the state G. A. R., another old soldier for whom "taps" has sounded.
Funeral services were conducted on Thursday afternoon at the Methodist church by Rev. A. E. Buriff, the M. E. pastor here. Interment was in Glenwood cemetery. The impressive ceremonies and obsequies of the A. F. & A. M. were used. All extend sympathy to the bereaved ones.

Obituary
Thomas Baxter Wallace was born at Hague, Warren County, New York, July 9th, 1853. When he was one year old his parents moved lo Carroll County, Illinois, where he grew to manhood.
In the fall of 1875, he came to Grundy Center, Iowa, and in November the following year he married Matilda J. Dean, who preceded him in death December 6, 1911. To this union was born three sons, Earl D. of Reinbeck, William J. of Goldfield and Harold of Belmond, who with three grandchildren, Winson, John and Robert are left to mourn his loss. A brother and sister also survive.
He was connected and united with the Methodist Episcopal Church in 1882 and continued an active member of the same.
On August 31, 1921 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Mattie Lagee Pitman, of Belmond, Iowa, who also survives him.
He was an active member of the Masonic Lodge, being a District Lecturer and a special representative of the Grand Master of Iowa at the time of his death.
He first joined Emerald Lodge, number 334 of Grundy Center, Iowa, June 14, 1887. On February 9, 1904 he demitted to Fountain City Lodge, number 589 of Goldfield which he helped organize as a charter member.
At his death he was a member of King Solomon, number 210, Belmond, Iowa, as well as a member of the Belmond Chapter, number 411 Eastern Star.
He was also Secretary and Treasurer of the State G. A. R. Drum Corps of which he had been a member for several years.

T. B. Wallace died Tuesday after a lingering illness at the home of his son W. J. Wallace of this place. The funeral was conducted by the Masons at the Methodist church Friday. He was buried at Glenwood cemetery beside his wife who preceded him in death several years ago.
He leaves three sons Earl of Reinbeck, Will of this city and Harold of Belmond and their families to mourn his death. He also leaves a sister Charlotte of Goldfield and a brother Charles of Clear Lake. His kindly disposition made many friends for him in Goldfield.
