June 29, 1927 ---- May 5, 2020

Arloine J. Bullington, age 92 of Hastings, Minnesota died following an extended illness on Tuesday evening, May 5, 2020 at Regina Senior Living in Hastings.

Arloine Jeannette, the daughter of Clifton and Grace (McMahon) Roseland, was born June 29, 1927 in Eagle Grove, Iowa. Following her graduation from Eagle Grove High School in 1945, the family moved to Des Moines, where Arloine worked for Bankers Life Insurance Company. She met Keith Raymond Bullington in Des Moines and they were married on September 3, 1949. They were blessed with three children - Keith Martin, Nancy Diane and Thomas Allen.

Arloine and Keith lived in a number of Iowa communities during their marriage, including Council Bluffs, Spencer, Sioux City and West Des Moines. They also had the opportunity to reside in Berkeley Heights, N.J. due to Keith’s work in Manhattan at AT&T corporate headquarters. Arloine loved living near New York City, and often talked of her experience taking a Chinese cooking class in Chinatown, and spending time on the shore in New Jersey. The couple returned to the Midwest in 1983, and lived in Omaha, Nebraska until Keith’s retirement in 1986, when they split their time between Omaha and Phoenix, Arizona, before moving to Hastings in 2003. Keith passed away in 2007 and is interred at Lakeside Cemetery in Hastings.

Arloine had a deep faith in God and spoke often about her fond memories teaching Sunday School in the Lutheran Church as a young mother, and participating in services at Augustana Care Center in Hastings. Prior to her illness, she was a frequent visitor to Augustana to visit friends whom she had known while living at Park Ridge. In addition to spending time with her family members and friends, Arloine loved children and all kinds of animals, especially dogs. She was known in her family for her passion for discussing politics and current events, her affinity for Major League Baseball, and her love of art and sculpture. Arloine also spent spent years as a reading tutor for special needs children. She was an exceptionally caring person and always focused on others’ feelings rather than her own.

Arloine was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Keith, an infant older brother Everett, and two sisters, Norma Drey and Marjorie Tallan. She is survived by her children, Marty Bullington of Scottsdale, Ariz., Nancy (Duane) Schrader of New Orleans, La., and Thomas (Cheryl) Bullington of Hastings; four grandchildren, Hilary (Anders) Sandberg of Chanhassen, Cecily (Christopher) McChalicher of Wakefield, Mass., Jake Bullington of Des Moines, Iowa and Christopher Bullington of Hastings; and five great grandchildren, Ethan Sandberg, Dylan Sandberg, Owen Sandberg, Ellen McChalicher, and Megan McChalicher, in addition to numerous nieces and nephews.

Due to the current restrictions of COVID-19, a memorial service and celebration of Arloine’s life will be held at a later date, followed by interment at Lakeside Cemetery.

Arloine’s family would like to recognize her caregivers and hospice team that assisted throughout her illness. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Regina Senior Living Pauline Unit in Hastings.

Arrangements are being completed by Starkson Family Life Celebration Chapel of Hastings.
