Isaac Bodine, father of Mrs. L. C. Spangler, died at the home of his daughter in Holmes, on Wednesday morning last, at the age of 71 years, 7 months and 26 days. Mr. Bodine was born in Morris county, N. J., and soon after reaching his majority removed to Independence, Mich., where he was united in marriage with Miss Mary McNear, Nov. 17, 1849. After living there a few years they removed to Bureau county, Ill., where they resided until coming to this county, some eight years ago. Until within a few years ago Mr. Bodine was actively engaged in farming but was compelled to quit on account of advancing years and poor health, so a couple of years since he built a hotel at Holmes and operated the same until destroyed by fire some two months ago. He was a kind-hearted, genial old gentleman, respected and loved by all who knew him. In their time of sorrow the aged wife and children have the sympathy of a large circle of friends.
