Gertrude Putzier Martin
22 April 1894 ---- 12 March 1939

Mrs. Arthur J. Martin died at her home on South Commercial Avenue Sunday morning. She had been very ill during the past two years and at times her recovery was considered hopeless. But she lived on and had almost completely recovered. Paralysis again assailed her two weeks ago, and death came to her relief last Sunday morning.

Funeral services were held at the Kubitschek & Kastler Funeral Home Tuesday afternoon, with the Rev. Merrill King of the Church of the Open Bible in charge, assisted by Rev. Joseph Hall. Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery.

Obituary

Mrs. Gertrude Putzier Martin, born April 22, 1894, at Eagle Grove, Iowa, to Wm. and Hannah Putzier, died March 12, 1939 at her home in Eagle Grove. She was baptized in infancy in the Methodist Episcopal church in Eagle Grove where she was a member. In the last few years she has been a faithful attendant of the Church of the Open Bible. At the age of five she moved to Bancroft, Iowa, where she attended the public schools, graduating from high school in 1911. She then taught in the rural schools for a period of three years.

In 1915 she was married to Arthur J. Martin of Eagle Grove where they have since resided. To this union were born three children, James Arthur, age 21, Quentin J. who died in infancy, and Doris Arline, age 16. She was Past Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star, also member of Sharon Shrine No. 14 of the Order of the White Shrine of Jerusalem.

She is survived by her husband, Arthur J. Martin, son James, and daughter, Doris, at home; her mother and stepfather, Mr. and Mrs. A. A. Young of Des Moines; two sisters and three brothers, Mrs. H. G. (Flora) Brown, Charlotte R. Putzier, Roscoe Putzier, all of Des Moines; Claude Putzier, of Kansas City, Mo., Wm. Putzier, of Baudette, Minn., and a great many friends.

Brown and son, Gerald, Mr. and Mrs. Roscoe Putzier, and Charlotte Putzier all of Des Moines; Mr. and Mrs. Claude Putzier, Kansas City, Mo.; Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Putzier and son, Baudette, Minn.; Mr. and Mrs. John Tuecke, Mrs. Art Dittberner and Alfred Tuecke all of Sheffield, Mr. and Mrs. Chas. J. Gray and daughter, Erma, and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Rungee and sons of Carroll; Mrs. Edith Mahlen, Lohrville; Mrs. Myrtle Beegle, Lanesboro; Mrs. Luville Holden, Glidden; Miss Florence Gray, Lake City; Mrs. Leona Willey, Carroll; Mrs. Vance Lidderdale, and Mrs. Chas. A. Hewitt, of Manleies, Ill.
