Mrs. Mary Ellen Shahan, 84, Belmond, died Sunday. Born July 6, 1886, in Jennings, Kan., she was the daughter of Johieal [Johial] and Viana Burehman [Burchham] Carter. She was married Feb. 18, 1913, at Greene to LeeAnder Shahan. He died in 1957.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Trinitv Lutheran Church. Burial will be in the Liscomb, Iowa, Cemetery with Fulton Funeral Home in charge. Surviving are five sons. Stanley, Las Vegas, Nev.: Howard, Belmond; Edward, Rowan; Carroll, Shelby, Mont.; Orville, Allentown, Pa.; a daughter, Mrs. Weston (Ada) Hughes, Durant; 27 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, a daughter, two brothers and a grandchild.
