December 10, 1915 --- January 21, 1920

Just before going to press we received word that little Roy Pletcher, youngest child of Mrs. and Mrs. Otto Pletcher, had passed away about three o’clock this afternoon. The sympathy of the entire community goes out to these people in their bereavement.

DEATH CLAIMS THREE FROM PLETCHER FAMILY—VICTIMS OF THE FLU

A Little Girl of Six Years Remaining from This Once Happy Family of Four.

One of the saddest cases of the flu this year is the case of sickness and death of Mr. and Mrs. Otto Pletcher and their son Roy, the deaths all occurring within a few days and nipping out the entire Pletcher family with the exception of one little child, a girl of six years.

Mr. Pletcher and family lived on the Shorts farm one mile east of Goldfield.

The first to take sick was the boy, Roy, a child of four years. His trouble was scarlet fever and influenza. He died Wednesday, Jan. 21. Mrs. Pletcher was very sick at the time with the same sickness but very bravely tried to attend to the wants of her son to the last, no nurse being obtainable. Mrs. Pletcher died having contracted the same diseases. Funeral services were held for each of the members of the family in the cemetery at Goldfield.
