Orlin Eldoren Knight, the son of Fred and Mabel Vest Knight, was born on July 31, 1912 at Clarion, Iowa. He died at the Clarion Community Hospital early Thursday morning, May 27, 1982 after a lengthy illness. He attained the age of 69 years, 9 months and 26 days.

Orlin grew up near Holmes and attended the rural schools in the area. He was united in marriage with Marie Anderson on February 18, 1933 at the Evangelical Lutheran parsonage by Pastor Severtson. The couple made their home in the Goldfield-Clarion area and Orlin was employed as a farm hand for several years. Later, he started farming on his own and lived and farmed on the same place for 37 years. In 1979, Orlin and Marie moved to Goldfield. He was a longtime member of the Evangelical Lutheran Church and had served on various boards and committees and served as an usher for many years. He was also a member of the Goldfield Lions Club at the time of his death.

He is survived by his wife, Marie of Goldfield; his daughter, Mary Ann Knight of Phoenix, Arizona; two sisters, Ilene, Mrs. Richard Campbell of New Hampton; and Mrs. Avis Huffman of Des Moines; a brother, Lyden Knight of Fort Dodge and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.

Funeral services for Orlin E. Knight, 69, of Goldfield, were held on Saturday, May 29, 1982 at 1:30 p.m. at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Eagle Grove. Pastor Paul Schaedig officiated and burial was in the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation was held on Friday at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove.
