Last Rites Held for Robinette Knight

Funeral services for Mrs. Robinette Knight were held at the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion at 2:00 p. m. on March 8, 1976, Rev. Howard Bower was the officiating clergyman. Organist was Mrs. Kitty McCool and soloist, was Mrs. Wayne Ebert.

Order of the Eastern Star Services were held by Adah Chapter, No. 136, Clarion, Ia., at 7:00 p. m. on March 7, 1976 at the Eyler Funeral Home.

Casket bearers were Ryle Andrews, Robert Avery, Dennis Bailey, Robert Ketchum, Ted Schaeffer and Dick Whitten.

Interment was in the Glenwood Cemetery at Goldfield, Iowa.

Robinette Esther LaGue Knight was born April 11, 1911, daughter of Perle and Nellie LaGue, and her spirit set sail on that unknown sea on March 4, 1976.

She grew up in the Rowan area and graduated from the Rowan High School 1929.

She was married June 30, 1933 to Gerald Knight of Goldfield, and the couple made their home in Sioux City, Iowa. Two sons Robert Vernon and Rodney Merle, were born and they resided there until 1946 when they embarked on a new career of school teaching and administration. Their last assignment was in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, where they resided for seven years until retiring to Rowan in 1972.

Robin was always faithful to her church and at her passing was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Clarion and Order of the Eastern Star of Blairstown, Iowa.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her husband, Gerald of Rowan, sons Robert Vernon in the service at Heidelberg, Germany; Rodney Merle, Lewis Research Center, N.A.S.A. Cleveland, Ohio, sister, Ruby Morris of Belmond, brother, Clare LaGue, Mason City and granddaughter, Terri, of Cleveland.

A memorial fund has been established and will be donated to the Iowa Lions Sight Conservation Fund for the erection of the Corneal Transplant Center addition at the University of Iowa Hospital, Iowa City.
