Obituary – Mrs. B. H. Oberton

Lylia Corwin Oberton, daughter of Albert and Elizabeth Corwin was born October 25, 1873 at Gilbertsville, Black Hawk county. She passed away December 19, 1938 at her home in Clarion, at the age of 65 years, 1 month and 24 days,

She moved to Wright county in the spring of 1881 and settled on a farm southwest of Clarion. On October 25, 1897 she was married to Byron H. Oberton and the couple moved to their home in Clarion where they lived for 41 years.

During her girlhood Mrs. Oberton attended the Methodist Sunday school and church. She was for ten years an invalid, having suffered three strokes, the last proving fatal.

To this union was born one child, now Mrs. Nina E. Corwin of Grand Junction. One brother survives, N. O. Corwin of Sauk Center, Minn. Two nieces, Mrs. C. C. Guild of Austin, Minn., and Mrs. H. Heiden of Clarion; also a nephew Dewey Corwin of Popejoy.

Services were held at the Smith Funeral home on Wednesday afternoon, Dec. 21 with Rev. H. E. Harvey in charge. Interment was made in the Clarion cemetery.
