Marjorie E. Alter, 68, 106 E. Sixth St., Apt. 609 died Sunday at Muscatine General Hospital.

Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Evergreen Cemetery at Clarion, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of the Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home.

Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Care Center.

Survivors include her husband, Thomas H., of Muscatine; and a daughter, Mrs. Merle (Sherry) Manley, also of Muscatine.

Marjorie E. Alter, 68, Muscatine, formerly of Webster City, died Sunday evening at Muscatine General Hospital. Graveside services are 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. The Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home, Muscatine, is handling arrangements.

Marjorie E. Sadler, daughter of Theodore E. and Hazel (Corsair) Sadler, was born Jan. 3, 1924 in Eagle Grove.

On Aug. 12, 1945, she married Thomas H. Alter in Eagle Grove. They lived 30 years in Webster City and nine years in Clarion, before moving to Muscatine. She last worked as a cashier at Hy-Vee Food Store, Webster City.

She is survived by husband, Thomas; daughter, Sherry Manley, Muscatine; two grandchildren; mother, Hazel Sadler, Clarion; and brother, Donald Sadler, Clarion. She was preceded in death by her father.

She was a member of the Methodist Church in Webster City and Clarion.

Memorials may be made to the Muscatine Care Center.

MUSCATINE, Iowa - Services for Marjorie E. Alter, 68, will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at Evergreen Cemetery, Clarion. Mrs. Alter died Sunday at Muscatine General Hospital. Ralph J. Wittich Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Marjorie Sadler married Thomas Alter in 1945 in Eagle Grove. She was a member of the United Methodist Church. Marjorie Eileen Sadler was born January 3, 1924 in Eagle Grove, the daughter of Theodore and Hazel Sadler. She died January 19, 1992 at the Muscatine hospital.

She graduated from Eagle Grove high school in 1942 and in 1945 she married Thomas Alter of Reading, Pa. They lived in Reading for a few years then moved to Webster City where she was a long time employee at the Hy-Vee store, until failing health forced her to retire. They then moved to Clarion to be closer to the family.

She had suffered for many years from diabetes and in August 1989 she had a stroke that left her partially paralyzed. At that lime their daughter had them moved to Muscatine where she could look after them. She had been a patient at the Muscatine Care Center since that time.

Survivors include her husband Thomas, daughter Mrs. Merle Manley, 2 grandchildren, her mother, Hazel Sadler and one brother, Donald Sadler of Clarion. She was preceded in death by her father in 1962. She was a member of the United Methodist Church.

Graveside services were conducted by Rev. Jerald Swanberg on Wednesday, January 22 at the Evergreen Cemetery in Clarion.
