H. Dale Cole was born April 21, 1912 at Havelock to Curtis Carl and Pearl L. Reubel Cole. He received his education in Havelock, graduating from Havelock High School in 1931. He then attended two years at Iowa State University in Ames, where he was a member of the ROTC. He married Mary Klein on June 4, 1938 at Havelock. He was an employee and later manager of various grain elevators in Iowa and Illinois, including Richards, Renwick, Algona, McNally and Perry, Iowa, and in Peoria, Ill. He and his wife retired and moved to Renwick in 1975.

He was a member of the Renwick United Methodist Church. He was a member of Viona Lodge No. 538 A.F. & A.M. in Renwick, where he was Past Master. He was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star and the Renwick School Board. He also belonged to the Izaak Walton League, the Renwick Community club and was the former mayor of Renwick.

Mrs. Cole died in 1990. He became a resident of Grandview Heights Nursing Home in Marshalltown. H. Dale Cole died at the Grandview Heights Nursing Home in Marshalltown Monday, August 31, 1992, at the age of 80. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; one sister, Beulah Von Eschen and one brother, Dean Cole. He is survived by his three daughters, Mary Ann Rosonke and her husband, Richard, of West Des Moines; Jane Elizabeth Olson and husband, Howard, Neenah, Wis.; and Nancy Jean Wolken and husband, Paul, of Marshalltown; two grandchildren, Marci and Curtis Wolken and one sister, Bonita Williams of Sioux Rapids.

Services were held at 10:30 a.m., Friday, September 4 at the United Methodist Church in Renwick. The Rev. Shirley Rozendaal officiated. Inurnment was in the Washington Cemetery at Havelock. Masonic services were conducted by Viona Lodge No. 538 A.F. & A.M., September 3 in Renwick. The Garry-Roberts-Murphy-Schaaf Funeral Home of Renwick was in charge of arrangements.
