Walter Orin Jones, the son of John and Rebecca Wilson Jones, was born in Illinois on May 19, 1891. He moved to Iowa with his parents when he was two years old and the family settled on a farm north of Goldfield. He attended the rural schools near the family farm.

On Dec. 9, 1914, he was united in marriage with Ada B. Knight at Goldfield. To this union were born six children, and the family lived on a farm in the Goldfield area. In 1930, the family moved to a farm southwest of Goldfield and Walter and Ada lived there until a year ago, when they became residents of the Rotary Ann Home in Eagle Grove.

Mr. Jones died at the Rotary Ann Home early Sunday morning, Nov. 6, 1983 at the age of 92 years, five months and 17 days.

He is survived by his wife, Ada B. Jones of the Rotary Ann Home, Eagle Grove; four children, Francis and his wife, Dorothy Jones of Webster City; Sylvus and his wife, Ruth Jones of Goldfield; Raynard and his wife, Rogene Jones of rural Goldfield; Letha and her husband, Carl Martin of Milo; 13 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandchild and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by an infant daughter, Kathryn; a son, Norman Jones; four sisters, Minnie Albee, Ethel Baird, Jessie Kelling, Mabel Griffith; five brothers, Ernest, Everett, William, Ray and Howard.

Funeral services for Walter O. Jones, 92, of Goldfield, were held Nov. 8, 1983 at 1:30 p.m. at the Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home in Eagle Grove. Rev. Walter Morz of the Presbyterian Church in Goldfield officiated and burial was in the family lot at the Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield. Visitation was held at the funeral home on Monday.
