Jerry D. Meyer, 75, of Coon Rapids, Minnesota, and formerly of Clear Lake, Iowa died Thursday, January 30, 2020 in Coon Rapids.
A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, February 4, 2020 at Ward Van Slyke Colonial Chapel, 101 N. 4th St., Clear Lake. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Tuesday. Burial will follow in Memorial Park Cemetery, Mason City.
Should friends desire, memorials may be left in Jerry’s name to the Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis Fund or Grace Hospice AugustanaCare – Mount Olivet, Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The son of Art and Josie (Jackson) Meyer, Jerry Donald Meyer was born on February 7, 1944 in Belmond, Iowa. He attended Klemme High School, graduating in 1962. Following graduation he furthered his education at Iowa State University where he grad graduated with a degree in electrical engineering.
In August of 1967 Jerry enlisted in the United States Marine Corps.; faithfully serving his country in Vietnam, until his honorable discharge in August of 1970. During his time in the service Jerry was united in marriage to Sandra Hunt in Kanawha in 1967. Following his military service they moved to Coon Rapids, MN.
Jerry first worked for Control Data, working with computer programming. He then worked for Parametric Tech Corp. “PTC”, in Arden Hills, MN.
In his free time Jerry enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and cheering on the Minnesota Vikings, but his greatest love and enjoyment came from his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Sandra Meyer, Coon Rapids; children, David Meyer, Forest Lake, MN., and Jennifer (Brad) Skuodas, Hinton, IA; grandchildren, Nick and Tyler Meyer, and Wyatt and Sara Skuodas; sister, Norma Renn; brother-in-law, Ron (Rosanne) Hunt, Dubuque, IA; and sister-in-law, Donna Johnson, DeWitt, IA; as well as many nieces, nephews, and extended relatives. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Alice Giesking; and daughter-in-law, Mindy Meyer.
