Mrs. F. L. Corey Buried Tuesday At Eagle Grove

Forty Year Resident of Belle Plaine Died Sunday Evening.

Funeral services for Mrs. F. L. Corey, 76, of Belle Plaine were conducted from the Kastler funeral home in Eagle Grove at 1:30 p. m. Tuesday and burial was in the Eagle Grove cemetery. The minister of the Congregational church in that city officiated.

Mrs. Corey died Sunday afternoon, Jan.12, in St. Luke's hospital in Cedar Rapids where she had been hospitalized a little more than two weeks. The body was brought to Belle Plaine by Peffers service, and remained at the funeral home here until taken overland to Eagle Grove Tuesday morning.

Mrs. Charles Slater of Boone and Mrs. John Ziegler of Newville, Pa., nieces of Mrs. Corey, who were called here by her death, accompanied the body to Eagle Grove. Another niece, Mrs. Alfred Watkins, met the cortege there. Mrs. Corey's sister, her nearest surviving relative, was unable to attend. She is Mrs. Carmen Shreve of Los Angeles, Calif.

Mrs. Corey, the former Jennie V. Spears, was born May 21, 1872 in Iowa. Her parents were Isaac and Eliza Spears. She spent her early life in the Eagle Grove vicinity where she was married to Frank L. Corey in November 1897. They lived in Eagle Grove for a time and later at Mason City, but most of their married life was spent in Belle Plaine where they resided at 1604 Seventh avenue. The couple had no children.

Mr. Corey, a veteran Northwestern railroad conductor, died Feb. 24, 1940, and he too, is burled at Eagle Grove.

Mrs. Corey was a member of the Congregational church and of Unity Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, at Mason City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Frank Corey were held here Tuesday afternoon at the Kastler Funeral Home, in charge of the Rev. Walter Ross.

Mrs. Corey died at her home in Belle Plaine, Iowa. She was a former resident of this city but has lived in Belle Plaine for many years past.

Burial was in Rose Hill cemetery beside her husband and her parents.
