October 13, 1917 --- November 15, 1949

Jay Ashmore, Jr., 32, of Los Angeles, California, a former Hawarden resident, died Monday in a hospital following a heart attack. Mr. Ashmore had been ill two years.

Mr. and Mrs. Jay Ashmore flew to Los Angeles yesterday to attend the services to be held Friday morning in Los Angeles.

Jay Ashmore was born in Hawarden October 16, 1917. He grew up here and attended the Hawarden public schools. He graduated from the local high school with the class of 1935. While in high school he took an active part in declamatory work and in athletics. He was president of his class in his senior year.

In 1936 he married Arlene Iverson of Dows and following his marriage he lived here about a year. He went to California about 10 years ago. During the war he served in the Pacific.

He is survived by a daughter, Marlene Ann, his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Tom Burke and Mrs. Ralph Bruget of Hawarden.
