Nellie Dragoo was born March 7, 1891, the daughter of Daniel and Mary Richmond Dragoo at Westbourgh, Mo. She attended schools at Cushing, Iowa, and graduated from Pierson High School, Pierson, Iowa. She received her Bachelor of Arts degree in education from Simpson College on January 25, 1927, at Indianola.
She was united in marriage to George McCutcheon, Goldfield. The couple moved to a farm north of Goldfield before moving into Goldfield after their retirement. He died on April 14, 1966. Nellie continued living in Goldfield until September of 1982, when she made her residence at the Humboldt Care Center-North.
She was a member of the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield, a Sunday School teacher and superintendent, and a 50-year member of Liberty Daughters of Cyrus.
Nellie McCutcheon died December 26, 1988, at the age of 97 years, nine months, and 19 days.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband; one brother, Harry Dragoo, and three sisters, Mary Haas, Lavina and Hattie Dragoo.
She is survived by one son, Howard, Goldfield; one step-son, Richard, Hayward, Calif., one daughter, Faith Tiner, Cutchogue, N. Y., one step-daughter, Marjorie Kohout, Lisbon, one brother, Earl Dragoo, Denver, Colo.; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held for Nellie McCutcheon were held on December 30, 1988, at 10:30 a.m. at the United Presbyterian Church in Goldfield with the Rev. Victor V. Victoria officiating. Burial was in Glenwood Cemetery.
The Kastler-Babcock Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
