January 31, 1861 --- May 4, 1918

Elizabeth Russell Clarke Keith the oldest child of Robert and Mary Hain Keith was born January 31st, 1861 at Lindores Newburgh Fifeshire Scotland, at the age of I8 she became a member of the Established Church of St. Andrews, transferring her membership to Traer, Iowa.

Three months of her early life was spent in London. She then came to Traer, Iowa, and after two years residence in this place was united in marriage to Hugh McCutcheon, February 9th 1887.

In 1892 removal to Goldfield was made and with the exception of a few months interval at different times in Scotland most of her life has been spent in and about Goldfield.

Of the immediate family remains four sisters and five brothers, Mrs. Jesse Milton of St. Andrews, Mrs. Belle Henderson of Dysart, John Keith and Mrs. Mary Phelps of Bathgate. Robert Keith of Rowan, Andrew of Chicago, William who is in the military Service in France, and Dave and Elsie of this city, besides many relatives and friends. She has been patient thru her sickness and God called her to rest early Saturday a. m., May 4th 1918.

Funeral services were held Monday afternoon at the United Presbyterian church, Rev. W. G. Coman the pastor conducting them. Interment was made in beautiful Glenwood Cemetery.

Those from away who were here in attendance to the funeral were Mr. and Mrs. R. H. Keith and Charles, of Rowan, Mr. and Mrs. Jno. McGowan, Mr. and Mrs. Hugh McCreath, Mr. and Mrs Jas. Keith, Messrs David Keith and Wm. Stevenson of Traer and Mr. and Mrs. D. G. Keith of Ceylon, Minnesota.

Traer News Notes.

Mrs. Hugh McCutcheon, a former Traer woman, died in the hospital at Cherokee last week. She was known here as Elisa Kieth [Keith} and was a niece of David Kieth [Keith]. A number of relatives from this vicinity attended the funeral at Goldfield, where she had resided of late years.
