Margaret D. Oviatt, 79, of Goldfield, Iowa, died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at St. Mary's Hospital, Rochester, Minn. Services: 1:30 p.m. Monday, United Methodist Church, Goldfield. Friends may call from 5 to 7:30 p.m. today at the Willim Funeral Home, Eagle Grove, Iowa. Burial: Glenwood Cemetery, Goldfield.

She is survived by her husband, Russell; a son, Russell Dean and wife Maureen of Cedar Rapids; two grandsons, Russell Clayton and Brian James Oviatt; a brother, Everett McCutcheon and wife Constance of Eagle Grove; and three nieces and a nephew.

MARGARET D. OVIATT

Margaret Dean McCutcheon was born on February 6, 1919, in rural Eagle Grove, Iowa, to William H. and Alma Bess Beisell McCutcheon. She attended the Evergreen Country School for eight years and then to Goldfield, where she graduated from Goldfield High School in 1936. She then attended and graduated from AIB in Des Moines. Prior to her marriage, she worked as a secretary for Bruce Motor Freight in Des Moines. On July 18, 1943, she was united in marriage to Russell Oviatt at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield. She helped her husband run the Goldfield Cold Storage Locker Plant for about 10 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Goldfield and the WSCS. She was a fifty-plus year member of the Alpha Delphian Club and a fifty-plus year member of the American Legion Auxiliary #370 of Goldfield. She also belonged to the Sew-So Club, the Birthday Club, and the Oakridge Recreation Association, where she had once served as treasurer.

Margaret D. Oviatt died Thursday, July 30, 1998, at the St. Mary's Hospital in Rochester, Minn., at the age of 79.

Survivors include her husband, Russell, Goldfield; one son, Russell Dean and wife, Maureen, Cedar Rapids; two grandsons; a brother, Everett W. McCutcheon and wife, Constance, Eagle Grove; and three nieces and a nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Funeral services were held at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, August 3, 1998, at the United Methodist Church in Goldfield with Reverend Karen Dearchs officiating. Burial was held in Glenwood Cemetery in Goldfield.

Willim Funeral Home in Eagle Grove was in charge of the arrangements.
