William H. Fort
28 October 1843 ---- 5 August 1917

Maquoketa, Ia., Aug. 9--The remains of W. H. Fort, who died in Chicago last Monday, were brought here for burial yesterday and services were conducted at the Buchner chapel this morning at 10 o'clock when the remains were laid to rest by the side of his wife, Carrie Thompson Fort, who passed away seven years ago last April. Carl Fort their only son, of Chicago; John S. Fort, of Eagle Grove, a brother of the deceased and Mrs. Frank S. Fort, of Clinton were here to attend the funeral. Mr. Fort was formerly a resident of Maquoketa, and was principal of the schools here at one time and had many friends among the older people.
