John Schmalenberger
June 2, 1950 ---- December 27, 2019John Schmalenberger, 69, passed away December 27, 2019 at the Simpson Health Center. He was the son of Carl and Ruth Hofmann Schmalenberger and grew up on their family farm near Vincent. In his youth John was active in 4-H and DeMolay.
John graduated from Iowa State University with academic distinction and was inducted into these academic honoraries: Phi Kappa Phi, Phi Eta Sigma, Campos, and Kappa Delta Pi. He was also a member of FarmHouse Fraternity. He served 6 years in the U.S. Army Reserve and belonged to the Masons, Za-Ga-Zig Shrine, and the United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his brother Steve (Nancy) Schmalenberger, 2 nieces and 6 grandnieces and nephews. Gunderson Funeral Home & Cremation Services are entrusted with the arrangements. A private family service will be held.
