Tracy Wade Gugger, 55, Ankeny, Iowa, died Monday, November 25, 2019 from injuries sustained in a two-vehicle accident in rural Polk County, Iowa.

He was born August 28, 1964, at Clarion, Iowa, to parents Richard F. and Patricia S. Gugger. He attended Boone Valley elementary school and graduated from BVHS in 1983. When he was a junior, he signed papers to join the US Navy upon graduation. He served with the Naval Airwing for 20 years. While in the Navy, he completed numerous educational courses, and also earned an associate degree from Vincennes University. Upon completing this career, he was employed by Northrup Grumman, a military contractor.

After marriage, he became the father of Hayley Mica and Sydney Lien while living in Virginia Beach, Virginia. When the children were very young, the family moved back to Ankeny to be near his sister and his parents while raising the babies. Soon he became a single father and found that raising two little girls alone was challenging.

At the time of his death, he was employed as a school bus driver so that his work schedule coincided with the girls' school schedule. The girls rode his routes with him.

Tracy was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Fritz and Louise Gugger, Renwick, Iowa and his maternal grandparents, Don and Lorna McQuatters, Northwood, Iowa, his father Richard Gugger, and his beloved Molly Brown Dog. He is survived by his daughters, Hayley and Sydney, mother Pat Gugger, sister and brother-in-law Tricia and Pat Childress, all of Ankeny. Other survivors include his Uncle Mike McQuatters of Eldon, Missouri, 5 nieces and their families, Syd and Hayley's grandparents Jay and Carol McIsaac, Escondido, California and Robert and Shirley Smyth, Brawley, California, and many more relatives and good friends. from school, the Navy, employment, and neighbors all over the United States.

Visitation will be held at 1:30 PM with Funeral starting at 2:30 PM Monday, December 2, 2019 at Ankeny First United Methodist Church 206 SW Walnut Street, Ankeny, Iowa. There will be a reception at the church immediately following the service. Inurnment will be at Vernon Cemetery, Renwick, Iowa at a later date.
